Welcome To My Site...

Adventures in Life and Writing is my little home on the web. It's a place where I can take a break from serious writing and work and just chat about whatever is on my mind. You can also read all about the books I'm reading and what I think of them along with finding out some information about the writing projects I'm working.

Coming Soon to Etsy!

Posted By Bria_Teragram on April 17, 2009

I found a bunch of flowers I had crocheted. I have a bunch that I use myself in my hair, but I had a bunch leftover that I had made for a craft sell. So, I’m going to take some pictures of these flowers and put them up on Etsy. They are small cute little double layered flowers that can be worn with a hairpin and pinned or sewn on to something else. They are made out of 100% cotton thread. I have a couple that have attached leaves, but most have no leaves. I’m pretty sure I’m going to list them for a dollar a piece with or without the leaves. I think I may sell them in sets to cut down on the “Etsy Sellers Fee”. I’m not sure if they’ll sell at all… but it won’t hurt too much to try.

I think I have about five different sets I can sell plus one more that just needs a few more to be made. I’ll probably put them up in a few days. :)

I’ll probably also be accepting custom orders, but currently I don’t have a whole lot in the way of extra thread, but if I do end up selling the ones I have, I could definitely buy more thread. ;)

Anthem for the Week - April 12

Posted By Bria_Teragram on April 17, 2009

I’m super late on this so I just picked a short song that has a nice beat and is fun.

The Elms - “Hey, Hey”

Yeah, hey, hey guys! Hey, hey guys!
What’s the prize if we won it?
Yeah, hey, hey girls! Hey, hey girls!
What’s the world got to offer?

If you need it, you got it! I found it, I bought it!
You can’t ever take it, or fake it… Hey, hey, hey!

Yeah, hey, hey you! Hey, hey you!
Is it true, all the rumours?
Yeah, hey, hey I! Hey, hey I…
Should’ve tried - tried this sooner.

If you want it, you got it, and
everybody’s gonna bow down sometime.

Note to Self:

Fix custom fields so they display on this layout.

Also decide on anthem for the week, I totally forgot to on Sunday…  Silly holidays distracting me…

On another note, I’m going to the library today.  Then I’m probably going to try to do another 3 mile walk (did one yesterday!).

Exercise, exercise…

Posted By Bria_Teragram on April 12, 2009

Aside from being bad and not working on my writing…  I’ve been good in that I’m finishing craft projects and I’m starting to exercise more.

Since I cleaned up my room, I’ve moved my laptop back upstairs so now I work from my room.  This means I have to go down the stairs anytime I want to eat, so I’m making a sort of game out of it.  I have sheet next to my desk with tally marks.  Everytime I go iown and come back up the stairs I make a mark.  The goal is 10 a day. It may not seem like a lot, but when I did Leslie Sansone’s Walk Away your Waistline DVD, my calves started killing me after just one mile.  Not to mention I’m usually running up and down the stairs when I do them.

That also brings me to the walking!  I went for a walk twice last week and then did the DVD with my mom.  We have plans to do the DVD again tonight and then hopefully we’ll go walking at least two or three times during the rest of the week.

Aside from that, I snagged the extra 2.5 and 5 pound weights that I’m doing arm exercises with.  And since the 2.5 pound ones have straps it makes it really easy to hold multiple weights together when I need some extra weight to lift. :)

I also found out how weak I’ve become from not working out regularly.  Time to buff up and tone these flabby arms!

I’m also going to try and add an ab workout at least once a week.  I have many options to choose from, which include just doing a variety of situps, using the abs ball, and various other workout DVDs we own.

Craft Projects Update

Posted By Bria_Teragram on April 9, 2009

I’m almost done with the cross stitch project.  I’ll probably finished it before I go to bed.  I just need to stitch on the date and finish putting the french knots on the name and then the date.  After that I just need to iron and frame it. :)

As for the crocheted baby blanket.  I’ve felted it.  I was originally going to make a bag out of it, but after taking another look, I’ve decided it would make an excellent pillow.  It amusingly turned out to by 14×14, so I’m going to go looking for pillow forms and then I’ll stitch up the last side.  If I go shopping for pillow forms tomorrow, I’ll have it finished by the evening!

So, hopefully after tomorrow night I’ll just have the scarf and a half finished pair of beaded earrings I found on Sunday to work on.  The earrings themselves probably shouldn’t take too long either.  I’m thinking about tossing some of the various craft projects I’m finding and working on up on Etsy to see if anyone would be interested in buying them.  I’m even thinking about making a second felted pillow.  I do have 5 skeins of the wool left afterall.

Craft Projects

Posted By Bria_Teragram on April 8, 2009

So, I have long ago learned that I have a tendency to start craft projects but never finish them.  That isn’t to say that I never finish them, because I do have two finished afghans and a shawl, but the majority go unfinished.

I have two afghans, one is a baby, the other was for a guy that was my fiance, hence why it was never finished.  I think I also got bored with the baby afghan or the fact that it was made out of wool made it hard on my hands…  Don’t ask me why it’s made out of a wool, I have no idea.  In any case, the baby blanket is almost at the end of the row, so as per suggestion by my mother, I’m going to finish the row and felt what I have done.  With any luck I can make a bag or something out of it after it’s felted.

Among other projects I found was a scarf I was knitting, only thing is, I don’t really like knitting so I don’t work on it very much.  I only used to work on it back in Alaska when I went to a knitting club with my mom.

The last half finished project I found so far is a cross stitch of little baby feet.  I was making it for my sister when she had a son who is three years old now.  Ooops.  I’m going to finish it and see if I can get another pattern to start working on since my sister is pregnant again.

So aside from tons of half finished stories… I pretty much halfway do most projects I start.  >.<

But I’m going to try and finish these projects.  I’ve brought them all down to the TV (minus the afghan which I plan on actually undoing completely and making something else with the yarn).  So, when I watch TV, instead of playing on my computer, I’m going to do crafts. :)

Summer is approaching…

Posted By Bria_Teragram on April 8, 2009

You can always tell the summer is nigh when you start leaving windows open for several days in a row.  I think I might need to bring a fan up to my room soon.  It isn’t particularly breezy around here so sometimes an open window isn’t quite enough and its not so hot that you need to turn on the air conditioning either.

And now I must get back to cleaning to see what other half finished projects I find lying around (I found a crocheted baby sweater and booties I was making, sweater done, one booty half done, pattern missing).

One last time (I hope) and other things…

Posted By Bria_Teragram on April 8, 2009

So, I decided I wasn’t quite happy with the layout I had chosen… but now I think I’m happy.  I hope this layout is much easier to navigate.  Please feel free to leave me comments about it. :)

In other news, I’ve decided that I really want the iHome alarm clock.  I decided that I want to have my anthem for the week automatically play when I wake up in the morning, especially when it’s one of those get up and move songs.

And one last subject, I went for a walk today, which means I’ve gone for TWO walks this week.  This is just simply awesome.  It was super hot today though.  I’m going to try and go on a walk tomorrow also and if it’s still pretty hot, I’m going to pull out the shorts and tanktop.  Time to start working on that tan. ;)

Oh, and I totally need to get The Fray’s new album. :D

And now for bed… which I should have been in several hours ago.

Earrings!

Posted By Bria_Teragram on April 7, 2009

Someone sent me a link to this awesome Etsy Shop.  If you like earrings they have some really great and cheap earrings made from butterfly wings.  I wish I had the cash to buy some right now.  They look really beautiful!

Anthem for the Week - April 5th

Posted By Bria_Teragram on April 6, 2009

Once upon a time I used to post an “Anthem for the Week”.  Usually it had something to do with the lyrics and that they happened to stick out to me at that time, but on occasion it was just about the way the music sounded or felt.

Today I’m reintroducing my Anthem for the Week program.

I’m choosing this song because it’s one of those songs that just makes you want to get up and dance.  And trust me, I danced. :D

TobyMac - “Momentum”

Somebody said you better let go
‘Cause they said so
But I could never let this thing go
Don’t they even know what that means
They call me obscene
Say I wear my faith on my sleeve
But I ain’t here to seek no glory
End of story, I know the judge and the jury
People always gotta ask who, what, when, and why
But never wanna step to the light

So I hear you say you wanna come and get some
Should I mention I got your attention
Know that I’m a man on a mission, my position is
Momentum

[CHORUS]
Been on a roll for two thousand years or so
We’ve got momentum baby

Livin’ on the edge of obnoxious
They call me raucous
I’m a freak, I can’t stop this
Ardently enthused about God
No hand-me-down nod
Your gonna get all I got
High-steppin’ from the twenty on in
Knees to my chin
I’m rollin’ deep in momentum
Burnin’ with the hard core flame
No shame in this game
I’m followin’ my heart not my brain

[CHORUS]

Been on a roll
Cause we got souls that won’t die
And this party ain’t over ’til we take flight
You’ve been told that we come bold on this side
You ain’t never known the dilly ’til we testify
Cause have you ever heard of turnin’ water into wine
And have you ever heard of givin’ sight back to the blind
It’s undeniable we’re droppin’ the Truth on this track
Cause once you start an avalanche there ain’t no turnin’ back

[CHORUS]
